Frame Drawings

From your engineer's calcs to fabrication-ready drawings

Once you have structural calculations, here's how the drawings come together.

1. You send the calcs plus architect drawings or floor plans and any sketches.

2. I produce a general arrangement (GA) drawing - the overall layout - for you to approve.

3. Fabrication drawings and connection details follow, member by member, with marking plans and cutting lists the fabricator can quote and build from.

4. Revisions until it's right for the fabricator and Building Control.

Typical turnaround for a domestic job is a few days once the calcs are in hand.

Steel drawings for extensions (from your calcs)

Structural sizing, spans and load calculations must be carried out by a qualified structural engineer. These pages help you plan the drawings you need - they are information only and are not structural engineering advice.
