What information does a steel fabricator need?
To quote and build accurately, a fabricator needs: the member sizes and grades (from the engineer), the lengths and levels, all hole positions and sizes, connection details, weld requirements, and part/assembly marks.
A marking plan and cutting list tie it together - showing where each marked piece goes and what material to order.
Give a fabricator clean fabrication drawings and you'll get a sharper price and fewer errors.
Structural sizing, spans and load calculations must be carried out by a qualified structural engineer. These pages help you plan the drawings you need - they are information only and are not structural engineering advice.
