Frame Drawings

What is a marking plan?

A marking plan is a layout drawing that shows where every fabricated piece goes, using a unique mark for each one (e.g. B1, C2).

The fabricator paints those marks on the steel; the erector then places each piece by its mark, like a numbered kit. It removes guesswork and speeds erection.

It's produced alongside the fabrication drawings and cutting list.

Structural sizing, spans and load calculations must be carried out by a qualified structural engineer. These pages help you plan the drawings you need - they are information only and are not structural engineering advice.
